Prayer

We believe that prayer is a privilege. We believe that prayer makes a difference. And we want our church to be a house of prayer.

E.M. Bounds said that “Talking to people about God is a great thing, but talking to God about people is greater still.”

Jenny Bell co-ordinates this ministry at Lisburn Cathedral and we are committed to providing more and more opportunities to pray and to receive prayer:

Here are some of the types of prayer which we engage in. More details about each of these are at the bottom of the page.

  • Parish Prayer time
  • Prayer ministry
  • Parish Prayer chain
  • Prayer Appointments

Types of Prayer

Representatives from the prayer ministry team are willing to meet outside of Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings, with you if you wish to avail of a prayer appointment. To organise one either call the office or click prayer appointments to arrange by email.

  • Day of Prayer: Every fourth Saturday of the month is corporate prayer in the Cathedral. This runs from 10am-1pm we gather together as a Church to pray for our city and for specific needs, to seek God and discover what is on his heart. You can stay as long as you want during this prayer time.
  • Prayer ministry: After every 11am Sunday service, prayer ministry is available at the front for those who have a special need or simply want to receive more of the Holy Spirit. The prayer ministry team are specially chosen and trained, and we guarantee sensitivity and confidentiality to those who receive ministry.
  • Parish Prayer chain: Sometimes there are things that arise in life and we need the force of the Church’s prayer. If you, or someone you know, has a specific need that you would like us to pray for, you can alert us through emailing the prayer chain.
  • Prayer Appointments: We love offering prayer after worship services, but we know that sometimes a little more time in prayer is required for people with a specific need.
