Position: Youth Ministry Intern for South Lisburn Community Church which is a church plant of Lisburn Cathedral
Direct Report: Ordained Local Minister and Dean of Connor Rector of Lisburn Cathedral
Hours: 10 hours per week
Summary: To be part of a vibrant growing church plant of Lisburn Cathedral in an area where there is hunger for the gospel and for people to come to know Christ. The youth intern at South Lisburn Community Church is responsible for helping to develop youth ministry within the church and the area. This will include one night per week and Sundays. This person will be part of the South Lisburn Community Church leadership team and work to implement the vision of Church worship.
Purpose:
- Gain valuable youth ministry experience by assisting in outreach and spiritual formation of the young people who have engaged with South Lisburn Community Church
- Be submerged in the life of the congregation in order to learn about the integration of youth ministry with congregational life.
- Discover the relationship of the youth worker with parents, church and community leaders, and the congregation as a whole.

- Have a vibrant and growing relationship with Christ and a passion for ministry to youth.
- Be teachable, humble, and have a servant’s heart.
- Be an example to others in Christian character and integrity.
- Be a self-starter as well as a team player.
- Possess gifts for ministry, such as leadership, compassion, administration etc.
- Must provide own transportation to/from the church
- Must adhere to the Church of Ireland’s Safeguarding Trust Policy for the protection of children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities, including completing the Church of Ireland’s Safeguarding Trust training and passing a background check.
Job Description:
- Fully participate in both a weekly youth night and Sunday church activities and other youth/church activities
- Assist in the planning/implementation of most youth events.
- Be part of the church leadership team and communicate regularly with them for mentoring and planning.
- Inspire others to invest in youth ministry
- Ask questions, be creative, offer and implement your ideas, seek servant-leadership opportunities, take risks, learn, and see God work through you to make in impact on others.
Expenses and Benefits:
- £100/month for twelve months or the duration of the internship
- Expenses paid on trips, special events, and ministry expenditures
